Privacy Policy

q-yacht offers an online yacht booking system through our website as well as through other online platforms such as partners’ websites and social media. Your privacy is important to us, and we mean it. We always act in our customers’ interest, and we are clear and transparent about our process of your personal data. Here we describe how we use and process your personal data.

We may amend the Privacy Statement from time to time. If you care to visit this page regularly, you’ll know exactly where you stand. If we make changes to the Privacy Statement which will have an impact on you (such as GDPR), we will notify you of these changes before the new activities begin. Sad but important: If you disagree with our Privacy Statement, you should stop using our services. If you agree, we are great to go and sail together.

What kind of personal data does q-yacht collect?

This is the usual stuff – your name, preferred contact details, and any other important information regarding your holiday (for example your arrival time to the marina, so the boat will be ready for you).

You may also be asked to provide a review to help other sailors and guests get exactly what they’re looking for. We will collect information from you contained in your reviews, including your name and the content of your review. In addition to this, we also collect information from your computer, phone, tablet, or other device you are using to access our services. This might include the IP address, currency preferences, the browser you use, and your language settings. All this is to help us to customize our site, so you find everything easily.

Depending on the reservation, we may also ask for your address, telephone number, payment information, date of birth, and the names of guests sailing with you. Please make sure any guests travelling with you are aware of this.

There are also situations in which we receive information about you from others or automatically; for example, from our partners, you may be in contact with. Our services might be integrated with other travel partners as well to make the yacht booking system available in every country.

Why does q-yacht collect and use your personal data?

We want you to have a perfect and stress-free holiday, so when you use q-yacht we make sure you understand how we might contact you or how we can help by ensuring your holiday will be planned well. For example, we may ask for a crew list, so you don’t have to queue in the marina, filling this information in last minute.

We might also collect your information to understand which language you speak and the best way to contact you. Another example of why we collect data is for marketing, where we want to present our content as relevant for you as possible or keep you updated with the best sailing deals around.

You may hear from us, sending you fresh posts from our blog, or sharing vouchers for your next holidays. Just before your sail off we may send you some tips on areas to visit or avoid and essential information about your upcoming trip (ex., marina information). You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time directly via the link in the e-mail. If for any reason the unsubscribe option is not available, don't hesitate to get in touch with us directly at info@q-yacht.com.

We might share this information with relevant third parties. The primary purpose is to process your yacht reservation, share data relevant to your sailing holiday, or validate the accuracy (for example email address you provided during the reservation). Any third- party service providers are bound by confidentiality clauses and are not allowed to use your personal data for purposes other than instructed by us. When you make a reservation on a business partners’ website, please also take the time to read their privacy notice if you wish to understand how these business partners may process your personal data.

When you use a credit card to make your reservation, we need to share certain reservation details with the payment service provider and the relevant financial institution to handle this payment.

We might need to disclose personal data with competent authorities, including law enforcement authorities, as it is required by law or is strictly necessary for the prevention, detection, or prosecution of criminal acts or fraud, or if we are otherwise legally obliged to do so. We may need to further disclose personal data to competent authorities to protect and defend our rights or the rights of our business partners.

We never sell or rent your data to anyone else.

q-yacht Cookies Statement

Whenever you use our online services, cookies and other tracking technologies can be used in several ways. These technologies are either used by us directly or by our business partners, including third-party service providers and advertisers we work with. If you want to learn more about what a cookie is, how they are used and what your choices are, please read more here.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small amount of data that is placed in the browser of your computer or on your mobile device. So-called “first-party cookies” are cookies which are served by the entity operating the domain through which the cookie is served. q-yacht cookies are therefore “first-party cookies”. In case we allow others to service cookies through q-yacht websites, these cookies are so-called “third-party cookies”.

In addition, there is a difference between session cookies and permanent cookies. Session cookies will only exist until you close your browser. Permanent cookies have a longer lifespan and are not automatically deleted once you close your browser.

Aside from cookies, other tracking technologies are used which are similar to cookies. These can include web beacons (also known as pixel tags, web bugs, or GIFs), tracking URLs, or software development kits (SDKs). A web beacon is a tiny graphic image of just one pixel that can be delivered to your computer as part of a web page request, in an advertisement, or in an HTML email message. Pixels can be used to retrieve information from your device, such as your device type or operating system, IP address, and time of visit. They are also used to serve and read cookies in your browser. Tracking URLs are used to understand from which referring website the q-yacht websites or apps are used. SDKs are small pieces of code included in apps, which function like cookies and web beacons.

All these technologies are together referred to in this Cookie Statement as “cookies”.

How are cookies used?

Cookies are used for different purposes. They allow you to be recognised as the same user across the pages of a website. The type of information that we collect through cookies includes IP address, device ID, viewed pages, browser type, browsing information, operating system, internet service provider, timestamp, whether you have responded to an advertisement, the referring URL, and features used.

We use technical cookies to make sure our website works correctly for you as well as functional cookies to remember your language preferences or filters you use the most. These cookies are necessary to provide you with the great experience we strive for.

We also use analytics cookies to gain insight into how our visitors use q-yacht. It helps us find out what works and what doesn't in order to improve our websites. These cookies gather information about which web pages you have viewed, which referring/exit pages you have entered and left from, which emails you have opened, and so on. We make use of analytics cookies as part of our online advertising campaigns to learn how users interact with our website or apps after being shown an online advertisement.

Commercial cookies: We use third-party cookies as well as our own to display personalized advertisements on our websites and on other websites. This is called “retargeting,” and it is based on browsing activities, such as the destinations you have been searching for and yachts you have viewed.
